Who We Are

We are Terry and Sue Mayberry, missionaries with International Messengers and have been serving with Doug and Roberta Moore at the River of Life Care Home in Romania since February 2005. Several years ago when we dedicated our lives to God and asked Him to use us we had no idea where or how He would use us. But we have found that, as it says in Jeremiah 29:11 - 13, God has a plan for each one of us and He will be found if we only seek Him and obey His call.

Where we are

We serve in the village of Cornesti. which is on the west side of Romania about half way between Timisoara and Arad. This was once the "breadbasket" of Europe and is still a huge agricultural area of flat to rolling landscape with fields of wheat, barley and sunflowers as well as flocks of sheep and small herds of cattle. Unfortunately, it is also an area of impoverished villages with people in need of basic necessities and spiritual guidance.

What we believe

WE BELIEVE the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writing, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

WE BELIEVE in One God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons.  Father, Son and Holy Spirit, having precisely the same nature and worthy of equal worship and obedience.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is true God and true man.  Having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a substitutional sacrifice for our sins.  He arose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He continues His High Priestly ministry at the right hand of the throne of God.

WE BELIEVE that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.

WE BELIEVE that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin through Adam and is therefore totally depraved, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

WE BELIEVE that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

WE BELIEVE that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age.  They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

WE BELIEVE that the true Church is composed of all who through personal faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together as the body of Christ of which He is the Head.

WE BELIEVE in the personal and pre-millennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. We believe the destiny for the believer is to be present with the Lord and for the unbeliever is to be separated from the presence of the Lord in everlasting punishment.

WE BELIEVE the great evangelistic and missionary commission given by Jesus Christ to the disciples and to the continuing church is that of making Christ known throughout the world by word and example and bringing to maturity those who believe in Him through instruction from the Word.

The Vision we have been given

Our primary focus is on helping women and children in crisis situations get the help they need to reconstruct their lives and to do it in a safe, secure Christian environment where they can learn to raise their children in a Biblical manner and be exposed to the love of Christ on a daily basis. (James 1:27)

How is that being done? By RAISING Romania

  • Raising the people and country of Romania to God in daily prayer.
Phil 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
  • Assisting international teams and other missionaries in their service to the Lord and the people of Romania.
Ac 11:29 The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea.
  • Instructing women how to love and care for their children and raise them in a Biblical manner.
Pr 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
  • Serving all those that God brings to us in a Christ like manner.
1Pe 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
  • Interceding in prayer for those in need, be they friends, family, supporters or those we are serving.
Jas 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
  • Nurturing young and old alike, striving to show them the love of Christ.
Isa 66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
  • Glorifying God in all we say and do.
1Pe 2:12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
